What are the steps involved in
administering an Estate?

When administering an estate, we would usually deal with the following steps:-

  • Registering the death with all relevant third parties, for example
banks and building societies and obtaining details of all of the
    assets of the estate
  • Notifying the beneficiaries in the Will of their entitlement to
    the deceased’s estate
  • Obtaining the Grant of Probate to the Estate and registering
this with the relevant third parties
  • Collecting in the assets and paying any debts
  • Finalising the deceased’s income tax affairs
  • Preparing Estate Accounts and accounting to
    beneficiaries for their entitlements
